Staff Report

Los Alamos County Council voted 7-0 this evening to tentatively approve the proposed FY-2016 budget for the Communication and Public Relations Division, which falls under the County manager’s department.

The department has a $291,998 adopted budget for FY-2015 and proposed a $289,080 budget for FY-2016, which reflects a 1 percent decrease. However, Council voted to provide the department with an additional $73,000 to add one full time employee to help with the growing demands on the department and $30,000 to purchase a video system to broadcast the Council meetings held in White Rock and maintain minutes of those meetings.

To help cover those additional costs, Council voted 7-0 to reduce by $75,000, the $135,000 in funding that it had budgeted for the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities.

The Communication and Public Relations Division informs, educates and involves citizens and employees about County projects, policies and goals while enhancing the image of County government.
