YMCA Holds Special Veterans Day Workouts Nov. 11

on November 7, 2019 - 8:17am

YMCA News:

President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first Veterans Day Proclamation Oct. 8, 1954, which stated, “In order to insure proper and widespread observance of this anniversary, all veterans, all veterans’ organizations, and the entire citizenry will wish to join hands in the common purpose”.

In that spirit, the Veteran Employee Resource Group (VERG) is joining hands with The Family YMCA to support Team Red, White & Blue’s 2019 version of “WOD for Warriors.”

Team Red, White & Blue (RWB) is a nonprofit organization that helps veterans connect to their community through physical and social activity.

This year’s workout is Nov. 11 at The Family YMCA in four-time waves. Demonstrations start at 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., followed immediately by “the WOD”—a formidable, 22-minute true test of strength, endurance and personal fortitude.

A donation of $25 per adult and $15 per youth provides each athlete with a shirt. A suggested donation of $10 per adult, and $5 per youth helps the organization—however, people may may participate at no cost.

Everyone is welcome and you do not need to be a member of the Y to participate! Advanced registration is encouraged.
