on November 11, 2012 - 7:01am

Campaign Co-Chairs Wendy Schmidt, left, and Gene Schmidt join United Way of Northern New Mexico Executive Director Kristy Ortega in raising the Community Action Fund thermometer to nearly $300,000 Friday in front of the Los Alamos Post Office on Central Avenue. This year's campaign goal is $1,590,689, which will allow the nonprofit organization to continue funding local programs that help neighbors in need. "We want to remind everyone just how important their donations are to the community," Ortega said. Photo by Carol A. Clark/ladailypost.com
