NMDOT News:

SANTA FE The New Mexico Aviation Division would like to recognize the state communities that will receive more than $7 million in grant installments from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to revamp 16 airport runways throughout the state.

The three largest airport improvement projects will take place in Santa Teresa, Farmington and Hobbs. Ninety percent of these projects will be federally funded, the remainder will come from State and local government dollars.

The FAA is awarding $3.18 billion in airport infrastructure grants across the United States in 2019. “This significant investment in airport improvements will fund construction and rehabilitation projects that will help maintain high levels of safety in U.S. aviation,” said U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.

“NMDOT’s Aviation Division works closely with the FAA to ensure New Mexico airports continue to provide a safe and efficient infrastructure.” NMDOT Cabinet Secretary Mike Sandoval said. “The improvement projects largely supported by this funding will increase the state’s safety, emergency response capabilities and could support further economic growth and development within each airport’s region.” Adds Sandoval.
