School Board Solicits Nominations for Award

on February 9, 2013 - 7:00am

LAPS News:

Do you know an individual in White Rock or Los Alamos deserving of recognition for his or her commitment to promoting student achievement?

If so, your School Board would like to hear from you. Between now and Feb. 22, the School Board is accepting nominations for the 2013 New Mexico School Board's Excellence in Student Achievement Award, and one community member from our district will be selected for this honor.

Last year's winner was Lana Martin, a sixth-grade teacher at Barranca. Teachers, community volunteers, staff members, parents, and even students are eligible to be nominated.

The sole criterion is that the nominee should have played an important role in impacting student achievement (academic, athletic, extracurricular, or otherwise) in Los Alamos Public Schools.

The nomination process is short and easy, and the form is available at http://www.laschools.net/ExcellenceAward.

Send completed forms to Cathy McAnally, Secretary to the Board, LAPS, 2075 Trinity Dr., Los Alamos, NM 87544, email to c.mcanally@laschools.net or drop off at the district office by 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22.
