Rotary: This Adventure Just Might Change Your Life!

on March 5, 2019 - 11:26pm
The Rotary Club of Los Alamos is now accepting applications for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). Any high school junior may apply to attend RYLA.
The Rotary Club is also in the process of contacting high school principals, guidance counselors, youth organizations, and other sources for nominations of RYLA participants.
RYLA is a life-changing intensive leadership training program for young men and women where leadership skills and principles are learned, developed and enhanced in an atmosphere of trust and respect. The purpose of RYLA is to encourage and assist current and potential youth leaders in methods of responsible and effective leadership. RYLA is an all-expense paid five-day conference that brings together a special group of young men and women from surrounding states to share ideas about becoming better leaders. It is an action-packed program of activities that helps build confidence and leadership skills (like problem solving games, challenge course, skits, group discussions and teambuilding activities).
The benefits are connecting with leaders in your community and around the world to:
  • Build communication and problem-solving skills
  • Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
  • Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
  • Unlock your potential to turn motivation into action
  • Have fun and form lasting friendships
Alison Pannell, local RYLA committee chairperson, said that any high school junior may apply to attend RYLA. Generally, applicants selected have excelled in one or more areas of high school involvement and have potential or proven leadership experience.
RYLA is a co-ed 5 day camp held at the YMCA in Estes Park, Colorado. The sessions run from RYLA-1: Sunday, July 14 - Friday, July 19, 2019 or RYLA-2: Sunday, July 21 - Friday, July 26, 2019.
If you:

  • Have demonstrated leadership in your school, community or place of worship
