2017 Campaign Chair
Member, United Way of Northern New Mexico Board

Community Member,

It Starts With Me and, because of that I am honored to serve our community through the United Way of Northern New Mexico, as one of the 2017 Campaign Chairs. I serve in this capacity because I sincerely believe in our United Way of Northern New Mexico and the critical services they help make possible in our community. In addition, I also volunteer my time as a member of the United Way of Northern New Mexico Board.

Growing up in the Four Corners I always admired Los Alamos and Rio Arriba Counties. The rich cultural diversity and the world class science fascinated me as a visitor in high school. I always felt welcome when I came here, which ultimately lead to our decision to raise our children in this community. My family and I have been embraced and accepted and serving on the United Way Board is a way to give back to the community that has given us so much.

It wasn’t until I joined the Board did I realize how much need there actually is. I saw a lot of it first hand, both growing up in Northern New Mexico and volunteering with several organizations, but had no idea how many nonprofits are out there serving in ways I never before appreciated. We live in an area of great need and are blessed with many who are willing to fill that need. We can do more to reach those currently suffering. The 29 nonprofit partners UWNNM funds have positively affected over 12,500 of our neighbors in 2016, however, our fund only raises about half of what is requested.

This year I joined the United Way of Northern New Mexico and am encouraging all of you to join me in pledging to be an example of kindness that we all would like to see in the world and our country. It starts with me and I ask you to join me and other caring individuals this year, by investing in our Community Action Fund. Any amount invested will increase access to resources for those in need.

Investments can be made by going to or calling 505.662.0800.
