ART News:

The  21st annual Pojoaque River Art Tour is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20 -21, with an Artists’ Reception and Silent Auction 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept.19 at Than Povi Fine Art Gallery (next to Gabriel’s Restaurant).

Bidding will continue Friday evening and all day Saturday. Johnny Cruz and Nancy Grabowski will display work on the portal.

Located just north of Santa Fe, the Tour offers an intimate glimpse into the creative environments of some of northern New Mexico’s finest artists and artisans. Enjoy a welcoming visit with the artists and arts of the three cultures of the Pojoaque Valley, from a Pojoaque Pueblo sculptor through the mix of works of artists of Nambe, Jaconita and El Rancho to the traditional pottery of San Ildefonso.

At each Tour stop, the artists will show you their work and engage with you about their methods of creation. Some will talk about projects in progress and give demonstrations of their techniques.

Art viewers will be exposed to a wide variety of painting, drawing, and printmaking styles, including: mixed media, assemblage, monotypes, sumi-e, watercolor, egg tempera, book making and pastel. Artists and artisans will also present original works in weaving, jewelry, sculpture, ironwork, mosaics, ceramics and pottery.

The journey through the Pojoaque and Nambe valleys can make a memorable weekend bike or auto adventure through this unique blend of three vital cultures; few places are more beautiful and inspiring than northern New Mexico in the fall.

The entire tour can be taken in a single day; a map with addresses for GPS use can be downloaded at www.pojoaqueriverarttour.com. Contact the tour director at 505.455.3496 for information.
