ROBERT W. MARR May 5, 1918 July 14, 2015

Robert W. Marr died peacefully at his home in Los Alamos on July 14, 2015 with his family by his side.

Robert was born and raised in Guernsey, Wyoming where he met his wife of 74 years Virginia Marr. He worked at Lockeed Air Craft in Burbank, California before taking a job at Los Alamos National Labs as a high explosive machinist in 1957. Bob worked at S-Site until 1980.

He designed and built his dream house with his wife and son on Barranca Mesa, which was one of his most cherished accomplishments. He also did iron work and helped construct the frames for the beautiful stain glass windows at the United Church.

He was involved with the Mason's and Scottish Rite for over 60 years. He loved backpacking, gardening, golf and fixing anything that was broken for his family and friends. He was a disciplined, caring and gracious man.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Lee and Alta Marr, sister Helen and his loving wife Virginia. He is survived by his son Larry, daughter in law Jeannie, grandson Tyler and two nieces.

A service will be held at the United Church of Los Alamos on July 22 at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow in Graves Hall at the church.

The family would like to thank Dr. Laurence Goddard and staff, Aspen Ridge Assisted Living, and Ambercare Hospice Services for everything they did for Robert.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The United Church of Los Alamos or Aspen Ridge Assisted Living Facility. Thanks to De Vargas Funeral Home for their care of Robert.
