NM4 Improvements Project – Weekly Traffic Conditions

on February 9, 2012 - 5:00pm

On Monday, Mountain States Constructors will begin milling the existing road surface at the following intersections:

Monday and Tuesday-NM4 and Grand Canyon, La Vista

Tuesday and Wednesday-NM4 and Sherwood Boulavard

Wednesday and Thursday-NM4 and Bonnie View as well as the Hampton Inn and Metzger’s entrances/driveways

Thursday and Friday-NM4 and Rover Blvd.

What to expect?

Expect lane closures and flagging operations during non-peak hours. Please follow the detour signs as posted.

Traffic control restrictions for NM4 include providing a minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction at all times during construction. Weekday flagging operations will be allowed between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The above restrictions will help minimize construction traffic delays during peak traffic hours, though delays will still be experienced.

Reminder: As the contractor begins work on the south side of the roadway, traffic will be detoured to the north side and restricted to one lane in each direction – there is not enough room to maintain designated turn lanes so please use caution and watch for stopped traffic waiting to make left turns. Expect typical construction activities such as truck traffic, heavy equipment, noise, dust and delays. The Atomic City Transit bus stops along NM4 may need to be adjusted as the work zone is established; however, information will be distributed on the bus and through the Atomic City website (AtomicCityTransit.com). Pedestrian access will be maintained.

The project website will be updated weekly to reflect traffic conditions expected the following week.

What Can You Do To Help?

White Rock residents are urged to use alternative routes to access White Rock locations and minimize traffic on NM4 as much as possible. Please note that making left hand turns from NM4 on to side streets may be difficult during peak times and traffic will back up behind you. Emergency access as well as access to all businesses will be maintained. Please drive defensively.

Commuter traffic in the morning and evening rush will likely experience delays; planning for additional drive time is highly recommended.
