on September 12, 2019 - 8:20am

COMMUNITY News:

HOAMCO has teamed up with the Santa Fe Food Depot to take part in the 8th annual Neighbor to Neighbor Food Drive, the largest annual food drive benefiting The Food Depot.

The Food Depot distributes 430,000 meals each month through its more than 145 partner agencies (food pantries, youth/senior centers and shelters) across nine Northern New Mexican counties. Last year, more than 100 neighborhoods, schools and businesses participated in the drive, which resulted in more than 200,000 meals raised–a 55 percent increase over the prior year.

The hope is to surpass that record this year, with a goal of 230,000 meals. The Food Depot depends on donations to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing hunger. Please drop off non-perishable food items between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, or 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce Small Business Center located at 190 Central Park Square. The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce has graciously donated the drop-off location for this charitable event.

The Food Depot, volunteer, or city truck will come pick up all the bags of food Sept. 21. Monetary donations (mail a check “neighborhood” on memo line or donate at https://www.thefooddepot.org/neighborhood-donation) are accepted, too.
