Staff report

A two-vehicle collision this afternoon sent a Los Alamos woman to the hospital with what appear to be minor injuries.

Los Alamos Fire Department EMTs transported Deborah Storms, 46, to Los Alamos Medical Center after the red 2011 Subaru she was driving collided with another vehicle near Trinity Drive and 4th Street.

Los Alamos Police Cpl. Ben Hinrichs told the Los Alamos Daily Post that a 17-year-old Espanola girl was driving a white 2003 Dodge Dakota east on Trinity Drive about 3:30 p.m. today when she attempted to make a right turn onto 4th Street and collided with Storms' Subaru.

LAFD EMTs checked the girl at the scene for injuries and released her, Hinrichs said.

Police cited the girl for failure to yield right of way and for driving on an expired license.

LAPD Crash Team

The Los Alamos Police Department has organized a team of officers to respond to and investigate serious traffic crashes.

These officers volunteer for this assignment and receive extensive advanced training in the investigation of traffic crashes.

When a serious accident happens LAPD crash team members are called out to the scene to investigate.

Officers, at the completion of their investigation must then deliver an accurate, easy to understand analysis of what can often be a complex technical situation.
