LACA News:

Metales M5, The Mexican Brass, will perform beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at Ashley Pond Park in the final “Gordon’s Concert” of the season.

The free concert is a joint presentation the Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series and the Los Alamos Concert Association.

“Russ Gordon, the summer concert impresario and I have been trying to figure out how to collaborate for several years,” LACA Artistic Director Ann McLaughlin said. “LACA’s usual venue, the Smith Auditorium, will be closed for renovation until December. Russ kindly offered to extend his season by one week so we could give this special gift to the community until we can get back into the Smith. Our only regret is that this is Russ’s final concert. He deserves a fine send-off and Metales will be a great ending to his long run.”

Latin American’s finest brass quintet, Metales M5 has been called the best thing to come out of Mexico since tequila. Great virtuosos in all musical styles, their concerts are unique musical experiences with non-stop showmanship, humor and Latin charm. The audience at the pond can expect brassy fun from Baroque to Broadway.

Metales M5 has a very active touring schedule with more than 1,000 concerts on four continents. In recent years they have toured in Canada, Algeria, China, Chile, Colombia and the Bahamas. They made their Washington, D.C. debut in the Kennedy Center in 2015 and will come to Los Alamos directly from an extensive tour of Germany.
