Medical Associates Of Northern New Mexico Thanks Community For 1st Walk/Run For Diabetes Participation

MANNM News:

Medical Associates of Northern New Mexico ( MANNM) would like to extend its gratitude to the participants and the community for coming out to support the 1st Run/ Walk for Diabetes Oct. 6 at Rover Park in WHite Rock.

MANNM plans for the event to be held annually in the fall. The hope is to give people a goal toward exercising and training for in the summer,to improve their health, while donating to a good cause.

108 people signed up to participate, however $1,910 was collected with several people donating generously in addition to the entry fee of $15. $955 was sent to ADA for diabetes camp for children with Type 1 diabetes and an equal amount was presented to Los Alamos Auxiliary Fire Brigade in a effort to give back to the community.

The organization hopes to benefit a different local non profit each year and encourage greater participation.

  • 1st place Ian Alexander with a time of 20:35
  • 2nd place Ted Romero at 21:48
  • 3rd place Daniel Santistevan 22:09

Results for Females:

  • 1st Place Esther Brunette 25:00
  • 2nd place: Christine Pearl 28:00
  • 3rd place Michelle Certik 28:30

The Los Alamos Co-Op was on hand serving healthy snacks along with the the Los Alamos County Fire Brigade who offered blood pressure and blood sugar checks.
