U.S. CONGRESSIONAL News:

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico's Third District released the following statement today on the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:

"Today we mourn the lives that were cut short when our country was attacked by terrorists 12 years ago. While we were shaken to our core by the horrifying attacks, a resilient nation pulled together to show the bravery and heroism that are hallmarks of the United States of America.

"We saw first responders risk their lives to save others. Strangers on the street lent a helping hand to those in need near Ground Zero. In the aftermath of great tragedy, we saw the best that our nation has to offer. Today, let us take time to reflect on the friends and family who were lost and on the men and women who stood strong in harm's way to help their fellow Americans.

"The attacks of September 11 will always be remembered as a national tragedy, but what followed in the selfless acts by brave first responders and concerned citizens will be forever honored."
