Los Alamos Wins Big In Pagosa Springs

The sixth grade LA Slam boys basketball team traveled April 5-6 to Pagosa Springs to participate in the Pagosa Springs Youth Tournament.
The Slam took first place over a field of eight teams, going undefeated in three games of the single elimination tourney.
The Los Alamos boys defeated the Montezuma Storm 5 by a score of 45-11 in the Friday night game before moving on to beat Sanford by a score of 32–22 the next morning.
The Saturday night championship against the Montezuma Storm 6 was a hard fought battle. After taking an early lead and going up 20-12 at halftime, the Slam held off a second half run by Montezuma and prevailed in a heart pounding 27-26 victory.
The LA Slam are associated with the Hilltopper Basketball Academy and coached by David Gartz, Tanya Kaltschmid and Joe Ortiz.
