LAPS News:

Renne Mitsunaga, art teacher from Chamisa Elementary and Stephanie Rittner, art teacher from Pinon, spent the day at the N.M. State Fair. They didn't ride the Ferris wheel or eat cotton candy. They hung almost 200 pieces of Los Alamos Public Schools student art in the School Arts building.

Every year, school districts from around the state come together at the state fair to display student artwork. It's colorful, exciting and inspirational to see artwork created by students in kindergarten through 12th grade. It makes the students proud and the parents take lots of photographs.

The New Mexico State Fair opens Sept. 10-21. There is an arts preview night at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9. Teachers will notify students if they have a work of art on display.
