The Los Alamos County Council recognized the County Finance Department during Turesday's Council meeting for earning a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its CAFR.

The CAFR is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This is the 28th year that the Los Alamos County Finance Department has received this honor.

The department's FY2018 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) also was awarded the Certificate of Achievement from GFOA. The PAFR received a weighted average score of 75.00 percent or above from three of the four highest individual reviews. This award represents the third year of receipt of this distinction in the three years that the PAFR has been submitted.
