LAPD Warns Public Of Phone Scam

The Los Alamos Police Department is warning the public of a recent scam.

Citizens are receiving calls from a person or persons claiming to be with the Los Alamos County Sheriff’s Department. The callers are advising citizens that they need to pay sums of money for missing jury duty.

A link is provided to citizens that looks like an authentic website for the sheriff and it contains a PO Box for the citizens to mail their money orders to.

Anyone contacted by individuals requesting they pay fines for any offense are urged to contact the Los Alamos Police Department immediately at 505.662.8222.
