House Bill 5 calls for a $449 million dollars increase, for public education funding while increasing teacher minimum salaries, expanding K-5 Plus, and increasing the at-risk index.

“This bill is a once-in-a-lifetime game changer for our students across the state. While many components of H.B. 5 address the requirements of the recent lawsuit, there are multiple dimensions that have far-reaching impact over the decades,” Rep. Williams Stapleton. “This bill is a landmark legislation that finally shines a bright light on the beautiful diversity of our New Mexico students and opens the door of opportunity for every child in our state.”

House Bill 5 moves to the Senate for consideration.
