LALT News:

Los Alamos Little Theatre announces open auditions for Mark Dunn’s “The Glitter Girls” 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Performing Arts Center at 1670 Nectar St.

Interested persons should email director Kathi Collins at kathimcollins@gmail.com to sign up for an audition time slot. Come prepared to tell a joke or a funny story of your choosing, and then participate in readings from the script.

There are parts for seven women and three men, with ages ranging from people in their 20s to people in their 70s.

Scripts of "The Glitter Girls” are available at the Mesa and White Rock public libraries for perusal.

Actors should bring their best Southern accents. The play’s main characters are a bunch of tough Southern belles, members of a long-standing group of friends – the Glitter Girls – who must decide amongst themselves whom they most trust to administer a bequest that could benefit them all. Secrets, hidden feelings and hilarity emerge in a strong ensemble dynamic described as “Steel Magnolias meets Survivor”.

Callbacks will be by invitation Monday, Dec. 9, and if needed, Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Playwright Mark Dunn, based in Santa Fe but with strong Southern roots, has authored more than 30 full-length plays and his work has been performed at numerous venues nationally. He also writes novels; among his book titles is “Ella Minnow Pea”, described as a gentle political satire.

“The Glitter Girls” will be performed March 6-21 at LALT.
