International Dancers Perform For Diversity Week

As part of Diversity Week Jan. 20-27, community groups are hosting a series of celebrations of art and cultural events in Los Alamos.

International dancers will performance beginning at 5:30 p.m., Monday at the Unitarian Church, 1726 Sage Loop:

  • Neslihan and troupe will dance to Fakerni, a middle eastern song and Bollywood songs;
  • Alina Deshpande’s students from the Family Y Kathak class will present a dance in the East Indian style;
  • Neha Sadasivan and Sruthi Garimella of the Family Y Bharatanatyam class will take the stage and follow up with a K-Pop item with Ellery Leirmo; and
  • Brandi Weiss of Los Alamos High School will perform her own choreography of a modern piece.

Dancers in the community are encouraged to participate as well.

This International Dance and Potluck event also features food by the diverse families in the community. Attendees may bring a dish or just their selves, family and friends to this community gathering. This is a zero-waste event, which encourages participants to bring their own dinnerware.
