Los Alamos Creative District News:

Join the Los Alamos Historical Society and the Creative District at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at UnQuarked Wine Room in Central Park Square for History On Tap.

The presentation will trace the Los Alamos Ski Club (LASC) history through six decades of dedicated volunteer effort, from its formation during the Manhattan Project years, to the development of organized skiing at Sawyer’s Hill in the 1940s and 50s, and finally the creation of the modern family-friendly five-chairlift Pajarito Mountain Ski Area.

Speaker George Lawrence is a long-time resident of Los Alamos, a retired LANL project physicist, and an enthusiastic senior skier. He is a former president of the Los Alamos Ski Club, and is once again serving on the LASC Board. His current interest is working with the County and Pajarito Ski Area to obtain a reliable water supply for snowmaking on the mountain for continued enjoyment of skiing in our community.

More information about History On Tap and other Historical Society programs and events can be found at losalamoshistory.org and by following the Los Alamos History Museum on Facebook.

History On Tap is sponsored by the Los Alamos Creative District and hosted by the Los Alamos History Museum. The On Tap series begins each evening with an informal 10-15 minute lecture followed by a lively group discussion. All ages are welcome! On Tap is a way for people to get out and about in the community, learn something new, and meet people with similar interests. The “On Tap” series happens twice a month. The discussions are supported by Bradbury Science Museum, Fuller Lodge Art Center, Los Alamos Historical Society and PEEC at The Nature Center.

The Los Alamos Creative District is a program of Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation; a private, not-for-profit economic and community development organization serving the Los Alamos area since 1983. LACDC serves as the umbrella organization for the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce, Los Alamos MainStreet, Discover Los Alamos, Los Alamos Small Business Center, Los Alamos Creative District, projectY cowork Los Alamos, and the Los Alamos Research Park.
