The Masonic Lodge at 1400 N. Sage Loop in Los Alamos was vandalized over the weekend with graffiti, as were walls near the Justice Center and Fuller Lodge.

Freemasonry is a fraternity whose purpose is to unite ethical men who have a strong interest in morality, charity, and the welfare of humanity as a whole. The Principle Tenets of Freemasonry are brotherly love, relief, and truth. Our Cardinal Virtues are temperance, fortitude, prudence, and justice.

We raise substantial sums of money for charity including the Shrine Hospitals (all Shriners are Masons) and we work locally to raise money for Los Alamos school organizations through our waffle breakfasts.

We hope that this vandalism is due to ignorance and not intolerance or evil intent.

Anyone with information regarding the individual(s) responsible for this disrespectful act, please contact the Los Alamos Police Department at 505.662.8226 or https://www.losalamosnm.us/government/departments/police/report_a_crime.

Thank you.

Editor's note: Police told the Los Alamos Daily Post that an investigation is underway and additional details will be released Tuesday.
