Fort Union Days Special Event June 15-16

WATROUS  Fort Union National Monument announces its annual Fort Union Days free public event 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday June 16.
 
This year, programs and activities will include the Dineh Tah Navajo Dancers, New Mexican folkloric dancing by Los Zapateados Dancers, cannon firing demonstrations, musket firing programs and a 19th-century military encampment.
 
There also will be interactive children’s activities, including a mock soldiers’ drill with wooden muskets. Snacks and light food will be available for sale, and picnicking is always welcome.

10 a.m. Guided fort tour
11 a.m.  Artillery firing program, Artillery Company of New Mexico
12 p.m.  Infantry demonstration, Third New Mexico Volunteers
12:30 p.m.  Kids’ Infantry drill
1 p.m.  Dineh Tah Navajo Dancers
2 p.m.  New Mexican folkloric dancing, Los Zapateados Dancers
3 p.m.  Artillery firing demonstration, Artillery Company of New Mexico
