Fatal Rollover Crash In Santa Fe County

SANTA FE COUNTY -- At about 8:45 p.m., Tuesday, the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal rollover crash on the Interstate 25 frontage road and West Metro Road around Interstate 25, mile post 276, near Santa Fe. 

The initial investigation indicated that a 2006 black BMW SUV occupied by three individuals was traveling south on the Interstate 25 frontage road at a high rate of speed. For reasons still under investigation, the BMW left the roadway and rolled.

The driver, Dominic Gonzales, 21, of Santa Fe, was ejected and suffered fatal injuries, he was pronounced deceased at a local hospital by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

The other occupants, an 18-year-old female and a 23-year-old female, both of Santa Fe, were treated and transported to a local hospital for injuries not believed to be life threatening. Their conditions are not known.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor and seatbelts were not properly used. 

This crash is still under investigation with no additional information is available at this time.
