U.S. Attorney Names New Mexico District Election Officer

ALBUQUERQUE—U.S. Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales announced Wednesday that Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathon M. Gerson will lead his office’s efforts in connection with the Justice Department’s nationwide Election Day Program for the upcoming Nov. 6 general elections.

As the District Election Officer for the District of New Mexico, AUSA Gerson is responsible for overseeing the district’s handling of complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses in consultation with Justice Department Headquarters in Washington.

Education was the topic of a forum for Los Alamos County Council Candidates sponsored by the UNM-LA Student Government Association Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Candidates Marc Clay, Steven Girrens, Kristin Henderson, Michael Redondo and Peter Sheehey attended the forum. Candidate Vincent Chiravalle was unable to attend.

Dear Voters,

As a mother and a teacher, I find the recent tactics employed by Reform New Mexico Now unacceptable, no matter how grave the stakes are in our race for State House.

Many of you have received the recent mailers claiming I would support the largest tax increase in New Mexico history, yet none of the attacks cite actual facts.

That is because it couldn't be further from the truth.

In an effort to ensure that all residents at Oppenheimer Place, known as the "senior condos" have every opportunity to be informed voters, they organized and hosted two "chat with the candidates" events.

Frances Kendall and Bob Wells hosted a tea and cookies event Saturday in which residents chatted with County Council candidates and Dist. 43 House candidate Stephanie Garcia Richard.



Governor to Attend Jim Hall Campaign Rally Sunday

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez will travel to Los Alamos this weekend to attend the "Rally to Keep Jim Hall in the Roundhouse."
The community is invited to join the governor from 2-4 p.m., Sunday Oct. 21 at the rally for Hall at the Hilltop House Hotel, 400 Trinity Dr.
Martinez is attending the event to support Hall’s election campaign for House District 43 - Los Alamos, Santa Fe and Sandoval counties.
All residents of District 43 are invited to this political event to meet the governor, Representative Hall and other local and state officials.

When I was selected to join the Charter Review Committee, I approached the task very cautiously and conservatively because any changes that might be recommended required a very thorough vetting process to ensure the right decisions were made to our community’s fundamental law.

My fellow committee members were equally dedicated, and we had many open and transparent discussions at public meetings that explored the issues from all aspects, bringing out researched facts and practical examples of what needed to be changed.
