County Line Highlights Monday & Tuesday Council Meetings

Special Council Meeting on Monday

A special Los Alamos County Council meeting is being held today, Sept. 24 to discuss the Trinity Site Revitalization Project - the actual title of the agenda item is: "Consideration of Approval of Assignment & Assumption, Consent, and Lease Modification Agreement related to the Trinity Site Real Estate Ground Lease and Development Agreement, from NA Los Alamos Trinity (NADG) to Topvalco, Inc., a Kroger related entity."

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers in the Community Building at 20th Street and Central Avenue and will be broadcast LIVE on PAC-8, as well as streamed on the County Council webpage. This will be the County Council's regular session and is shaping up to be fairly short. Expect to hear an update on the Community Health Action Plan from the Community Health Council ... plus, with newly appointed Councilor Rick Reiss on board, Council will take a look at committee assignments during the Council business section of the meeting. Grand Opening of the NEW White Rock Visitor's Center and Celebration of the Improvements to N.M. 4 Friday

Join the Council, the White Rock Visitor's Center staff, the project team for N.M. 4 and the White Rock Master Plan Implementation Committee at 11:30 a.m. at the new Visitor's Center, as they cut the red ribbon to officially open the new facility and celebrate improvements made to N.M. 4 as well.

Glass Recycling Returns to Los Alamos Next Saturday

Have you picked up your new yellow bin yet? There are still some left at the Eco Station (FREE) and it will be really handy for you to have when glass recycling returns in just one week (Sept. 29). You'll see the bright yellow dumpsters at Sullivan Field and the Overlook Convenience Stations next week - and that's where you'll take your yellow bin. Remember: no glass in the recycling BLUE roll carts and no YELLOW Bins placed at the curb - take it to the yellow dumpsters or directly to the Eco Station - thanks for your help in keeping our Recycle roll carts glass-free! Ok, this is a bit of a commercial in this newsletter, but we need your help! Get ready for the Next "Brush & Bulk Item Collection"

Los Alamos Residents - Use this weekend to clean up and clear out the clutter and yard debris, because the County's Quarterly Pick Up program is almost here! Your free curbside pick-up day will be Monday, Oct. 1 (for Mon. or Tues. service) and Oct. 8 (for Wed., Thurs., or Friday service). All items must be curbside by 8 a.m. on these dates as crews will be coming through the neighborhoods to note the addresses. White Rock residents - you have a few more weeks to clean up - your curbside pick up will occur Oct. 15 (for Friday trash service) and Oct. 22 (for Tuesday trash service). Questions? It's a Beautiful Weekend for Disc Golf

Leave your regular golf clubs at home and come play a couple of rounds at our new (FREE) Disc Golf Course, located on North Mesa at the picnic grounds. There are nine holes and you can access an on-line map of the course using the link below, and print out a Score Card. too! The course is designed for all ages and skill levels.
