County Curbside Christmas Tree Collection Jan. 7-25

on January 6, 2019 - 5:34am
COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division is offering free curbside collection of Christmas trees.

Place your tree curbside between Jan. 7 and Jan. 25 and it will be collected on your regular trash day. Maintain 4 feet distance between roll cart and tree. Once collected, trees will be recycled into mulch and compost.

As a friendly reminder, artificial trees will not be collected. Remove all decorations from your tree. If you want to dispose of your tree and it can fit in your trash cart, with the lid shut, you may do that as well.

If you miss these dates, bring your tree to the Eco Station for free disposal or call 505.662.8163 to schedule a special collection for $25.

Environmental Services would like to remind residents of the roll cart collection guidelines:
  • Roll carts must be set out by 8 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Please maintain 2 feet distance between each roll cart.
  • To avoid property damage, be sure that roll carts are 4 feet from parked cars, mailboxes, overhead lines, tree branches, signs, fire hydrants, fences and basketball goals.
  • Roll carts should be placed in the street against the curb.
  • Please DO NOT place your roll cart on the sidewalk.
  • DO NOT place hot ashes in the roll carts.
  • Christmas lights can be recycled as metal at the Eco Station or Overlook Convenience Center.
