LAAC News:

There are just 26 days left until a world event occurs in Los Alamos.

Los Alamos Arts Council invites people from all over New Mexico to participate in its attempt to capture the Guinness World Record for “Most People Carving Pumpkins Simultaneously”.

The event begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 and the goal is to have 1,300 pumpkins carved simultaneously along Central Avenue.

It is strongly recommended that participants be at least 10 years old.

Tickets are available for purchase at CB FOX, 1735 Central Ave. for $5 (cash or check). Tickets also may be purchased online for $7 on the Arts Council’s website:

The ticket cost includes a 24-pound pumpkin to take home after the Pumpkin Glow, a wristband and a complimentary Pumpkin Masters Carving Kit. Online ticket sales will close Friday, Oct. 18 to ensure ticket arrival before the event.

In addition to the world record attempt, the carved pumpkins will be displayed until 9 p.m. and the Pumpkin Glow will be held 6-9 p.m. Oct. 26. People may take their carved pumpkins home at 9 p.m., if they wish.

The Arts Council is recruiting volunteers for these events. To help, email by Oct. 6.
