Council OKs Ordinance For Land Transfer To LAPS

The Los Alamos County Council unanimously voted Tuesday, Aug. 27 to approve an ordinance for the transfer of 2.02 acres of land to the Los Alamos Public Schools.

This change will improve:

  • Student and staff safety;
  • Coordination with UNM-LA and the Los Alamos community; and
  • Options for construction of a new Field House at Sullivan Field.

The new ordinance was published Aug. 29. After that, Los Alamos County will prepare the deed, which will be presented to the Los Alamos School Board for review and acceptance on Oct. 15. 

The vendors who conduct business at this location on the weekends will continue to do so; the only change is that permits will be issued through LAPS. Weekend parking for events and transportation to Pajarito mountain will still be available.
