The Los Alamos Cooperative Market hosted its inagural Bike Swap Sunday to provide the opportunity for bicycle enthusiasts to sell and buy quality used and new bicycles, parts and accessories.

The Los Alamos Singletrack Association (LASA), an International Mountain Biking Association affiliated club sponsored the event.

A portion of each sale (10 percent) went to LASA.

LASA President Scott Weiss said the proceeds will be used to work with Pajarito Ski Hill to build bike trails at Pajarito.

"We want to expand the trail system to include beginner and intermediate runs. Our community of bike riders runs the gammit of ability and skill levels," Weiss said.

Los Alamos Coop Market's General Manager Steve Watts serves on the LASA board. He said more than 25 bikes sold during Sunday's event.

The Bike Swap was fashioned after the Santa Fe Ski Swap and included free bike safety checks, bike related raffles, LASA t-shirt sales, grilled food and a tyke bike course.
