on April 13, 2019 - 8:31am

COUNTY News:

Public Works/Traffic Division projects:

Pothole Patching on Diamond Drive at Trinity/Canyon/Diamond intersections

Weather permitting, Traffic and Streets Division crews will continue to patch potholes Monday and Tuesday on Diamond Drive. Work will focus on the Diamond Drive southbound lane between Trinity Drive and Canyon Road (in front of the Lemon Lot) during non-peak commuter hours. Because of the confined roadway, work will require temporary turning lane closures using flagging operations to provide safe passage and turning movements through these intersections. Motorists should expect a moving single lane closure on Diamond as work proceeds. Please slow down, watch for road crews, and use extra caution when approaching these busy intersections at Trinity, Canyon and Diamond.

Tsikumu Village - Road Improvements

Albuquerque Asphalt continues working in this area. Residents are asked to move all vehicles from their street during work activities 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday for milling existing asphalt pavement surface, replacing approximately 5 percent of sidewalks, valley gutters, curb and gutter, fillets, drive pads and ADA curb ramps at designated locations on these streets:

  • Sioux;
  • Cheyenne;
  • Seminole;
  • Iroquois;
  • Yuma; and
  • Ute.

Access to residences as well as mail/package delivery, emergency services, trash/recycle/yard waste pick-up will be maintained.

Other road construction projects:

N.M. 502 Roundabout and Road Reconstruction (NMDOT project)

Star Paving is wrapping up removal of medians on N.M. 502 near the eastern edge of Los Alamos. No detours; existing traffic patterns will continue with few delays expected. The next step is detour paving on the north (airport and Eastern Area residential) side of N.M. 502, between DP Road and 4th Street, between Central Avenue and Canyon Road, and in other locations. During detour paving, flagging operations will be in effect 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and traffic may be stopped for short durations for one lane passage through the work zone.

Traffic advisories from NMDOT are available on www.nmroads.com and motorists are asked to check the site for updates on this project as it proceeds.

TA-21 Clean Up Project – DP Road (N3B project)

Clean up work on the LANL TA-21 Site at the far eastern end of DP Road is underway. Large trucks carrying away demolition debris containers will be exiting DP Road at an average of approximately three trucks per day. Motorists are asked to be alert for trucks exiting; use caution when entering or exiting DP Road, as this area is in close proximity to the N.M. 502 Road Reconstruction project.
