  •  National Park Week at Bandelier - Crafts, Stars, Fee Free Days and More
Beginning Saturday, April 20, Bandelier National Monument and other National Park Service areas around the country will be observing National Park Week. With more than 400 areas, there's a lot to celebrate.

Of course Bandelier is always a great place to visit, and special events during that week will make it even better.

Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, will be Fee Free Days, when there is no admission fee to enter the park.

Also on those days, different members of the park staff, plus the president of the Friends of Bandelier, will be giving interviews on KRSN AM 1490 at 8:30 a.m. each morning.

Between Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 28, some of the park's Pueblo cultural demonstrators will be showing and selling their crafts at the Visitor Center each day, except Monday and Tuesday.

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the park will have a booth at the Earth Day Festival at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center in Los Alamos.

That evening the park will observe National Astronomy Day with a ranger program at 8 PM at the Juniper Campground Amphitheater, telescope viewing of the night sky including a constellation tour. If it is cloudy, there will be a multimedia presentation.

At 8 a.m. Sunday morning, the park trails program lead will offer a 6-mile hike on Burnt Mesa, which will include some scrambling and also off-trail travel.

Thursday will feature a talk at 5:30 p.m. at Ruby K's in Los Alamos, "Bandelier On The Edge." At 6 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the Visitor Center theater, the photos that have been entered in the contest to illustrate the Bandelier Park Pass will be shown and the winners announced.
