Los Alamos Creative District News:

The Los Alamos Creative District invites the community to join in the kickoff of Arts and Culture month at 5:30 p.m. this Monday, Oct. 7 at projectY cowork in Central Park Square

This event will offer a sweet Halloween twist and feature owner and pastry chef Chantielle Hanson of Barrow a Baker.

Borrow a Baker is the brainchild of Hanson, a self-proclaimed Harry Potter lover with a passion for baking and decorating cakes.

“My first career was as a teacher, but once I discovered how hard it was to bake in Los Alamos I wanted to help with that,” Hanson said.

This Art On Tap event will feature one of Hanson’s favorite fall treats, pumpkin muffins with maple buttercream frosting and a simple tutorial on how to decorate them for Halloween. Hanson also will discuss some of the challenges of baking at altitude, and tips for decorating  pastries.

Art On Tap is sponsored by the Los Alamos Creative District. The On Tap series begins each evening with an informal 10-15 minute lecture followed by a lively group discussion. All ages are welcome. On Tap is a way for people to get out and about in the community, learn something new, and meet people with similar interests.

The “On Tap” series happens twice a month. The discussions are supported by Bradbury Science Museum, Los Alamos Arts Council/Fuller Lodge Art Center, Los Alamos Historical Society and PEEC at The Nature Center.

The Los Alamos Creative District is a program of Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation; a private, not-for-profit economic and community development organization serving the Los Alamos area since 1983. LACDC serves as the umbrella organization for the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce, Los Alamos MainStreet, Discover Los Alamos, Los Alamos Small Business Center, Los Alamos Creative District, projectY cowork Los Alamos, and the Los Alamos Research Park.
