Art McHaffie will present a free public lecture about Europe’s Southern Gas Corridor titled “Project of the 21st Century”. The lecture is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the Tipton Hall at Santa Fe University of Art and Design, 1600 St. Michael’s Dr.

During McHaffie’s tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Azerbaijan International Operating Company 1994-1997, and CIR Board President, he was involved in the delivery of the first oil production and construction of pipelines to the Black Sea.

In Sep. 2014, Azerbaijan concluded agreements for the transit and sale of natural gas from the giant Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea to Europe. The gas pipeline will transit Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Greece, and Albania en route to southern Italy.

McHaffie attended the Sepember 2014 celebrations in Baku for the signature of the Southern Gas Corridor and for the 20th anniversary for the ‘Contract of the Century’ for development of offshore Caspian oilfields.
