Albuquerque Casino Takes Top Honors At Enough Good People Awards At American Indian Tourism Conference

ALBUQUERQUE The Isleta Resort and Casino in Albuquerque was among the top honorees recognized as the best in Native American Tourism at the annual Enough Good People Awards Gala and Silent Auction.
 
The awards were first established by the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) in 2012, and this year’s winners were announced during the association’s 21st annual American Indian Tourism Conference in Tulsa, Okla. last week.
 
A highlight of the annual conference, the Enough Good People Industry Awards recognize the top tribal tourism professionals and destinations in three categories. Additionally, a tourism leader is recognized with an Enough Good People Director’s Award, for their contributions to the hospitality industry and for their dedication to AIANTA’s mission.
 
This year’s Excellence in Customer Service was given to the Isleta Resort and Casino, in part for its new “I Respond & Care” program, which established a service-oriented mission among all employees, from leadership down to frontline staff.
 
Other awardees include the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort in Worley, Idaho, which took home the Tribal Destination of the Year award, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage, Alaska, which was recognized as the Best Cultural Heritage Experience. This year’s Director’s Award was presented to Lisa Gassman, the General Manager of the Sitka Tribe of Alaska, in recognition for her deep commitment to the preservation and sharing of Alaska Native culture through tourism.
 
Nominees for these destination awards must meet minimum standards for each category while also working to advance AIANTA’s mission to define, introduce, grow and sustain American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian tourism that honors traditions and values. Proceeds raised from the event are used to support AIANTA's scholarship program, which awards financial aid to Native American students interested in pursuing careers in the hospitality and tourism industry and culinary arts.
