The public is welcome to attend any of the Public Works weekly project meetings; contact the Public Works Department at 505.662.8150 for meeting information.

Children are attracted by activity and heavy equipment. For safety reasons, please keep children away from the construction area since they cannot always be seen by workers concentrating on their jobs.

Public Works Projects:

Trinity and DP Road  County Street Crews will be paving the intersection of Trinity Drive and DP the week of Oct. 31 .

Quemazon Subdivision  GM Emulsion will be crack sealing within the Quemazon Subdivision the week of Oct. 31.

Striping Parking Lots  Accu-strip will be striping all parking lots county wide the week of Oct. 31 through Nov. 11.

Canyon Rim Trail  Construction of the Canyon Rim Trail continues on both canyon edges and south of DP Road.  Additional retaining walls are being constructed behind East Park Pool and Crosswords Church. Installation of safety rail will begin on the south side of the trail. The project area between Fire Station 6 and Smith’s Marketplace remains closed to the public.

Central Avenue Phase 2 Improvements Project  Central Avenue is now fully open to two-way traffic throughout the project area. However, landscape work, signing and striping, along with other punch list work will be ongoing throughout the week. Drivers should be aware of workers in the area.  Intermittent flagging operations may be in
use daily.

On Tuesday, November 1, starting at 1:00 p.m., crews are scheduled to begin placement of the County branding logo at the intersection of 15th Street and Central Avenue. Motorists can expect a flagging operation. Left turn movements at the intersection will be restricted. This work is weather dependent. Placement of the logo was delayed from last week so crews could prepare the surface area.

Message boards are positioned throughout town to provide additional information. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to follow detours, reduce speed, and use caution within the work zone.  County and Contractor personnel are available to answer questions regarding the Central Avenue Project, 10-11 a.m. every Monday in Room 200 of the County Municipal Building (1000 Central Avenue).

Western Area Phase 4 Improvements Project  Crews will continue landscaping and completing punch list items on the 40th/41st Street Loop north of Sandia Drive and 41st Street/45th Street Loop south of Sandia Drive.

Minor paving and concrete work will continue on the 41st Street/45th Street Loop near the Sandia intersection.

Residents are required to remove all vehicles on the roadway and find alternate parking during work hours. Access to residences as well as services such as mail delivery, emergency services, trash and recycling collection will be maintained.
