Public Works/Traffic Division projects

Tsikumu Village – Road Improvements

Albuquerque Asphalt will continue on Friday, May 31 with minor asphalt repair that will include a small partial being milled and overlaid at the end of Sioux Street. With the project nearing completion, crews will also be addressing final punch list items and general clean-up of the work area. Access to residences as well as mail/package delivery, school and transit routes, emergency services, trash/recycle/yard waste pick-up will be maintained.

Road Striping – Los Alamos & White Rock

Traffic and Streets Division crews continue striping local roadways to replace faded markings for traffic safety. Crews are working east on Trinity and east on Canyon/Central to East Rd at the edge of Los Alamos. Once they have completed striping in Los Alamos, they will move to White Rock. Work will continue until main roadways are finished; all work is expected to wrap up mid-July. Work is weather dependent. No traffic delays anticipated that will impede traffic flow; please slow down and use caution when crews are working in these areas.

Road Closure – Longview Dr. & Bonnie View Dr. Closed to Through Traffic May 29-31:

Longview Dr. and Bonnie View Dr. will be closed to through traffic for 2-3 days due to construction. Traffic should use the detours in the area. Construction is located in the area of 124 Longview Dr. for an open cut crossing to lay down conduits to provide Comcast service to the area.

Other road construction projects

NM502 Roundabout and Road Reconstruction (NMDOT project)
Star Paving continues work on the detour pavement on the north side of NM502 (Eastern area residential/airport side) and along the west shoulder of 4th Street to Central Avenue. During detour paving, flagging operations will be in effect Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and traffic may be stopped for short durations for one lane passage through the work zone.
In addition, the common trench for underground utilities will get underway at the western end of the work zone; weather permitting. The two-way traffic will be shifted to the north side of the road for installation of utilities between Tewa Loop and Sombrillo Ct.

Traffic advisories from NMDOT are available on www.nmroads.com and motorists are asked to check the site for updates on this project as it proceeds.

TA-21 Clean Up Project – DP Road (N3B project)
Clean up work on the LANL TA-21 Site at the far eastern end of DP Road continues. Large trucks carrying away demolition debris containers will be exiting DP Rd at an average of approximately three trucks per day. Motorists are asked to be alert for trucks exiting; use caution when entering or exiting DP Rd, as this area is near the NM502 Road Reconstruction project.
