Cone Zone: Week Of March 22, 2021


Los Alamos County provides a weekly cone zone report detailing the latest updates on road projects around the community:

N.M. 502 Roundabout (State Transportation Dept., Star Paving)

Star Paving begins work Monday to complete the roundabout on the eastern edge of Los Alamos. N.M. 502 westbound traffic will be switched to a new westbound lane Monday. Work is estimated to wrap up within three months.

DP Road infrastructure for Canyon Walk Apartments (Bethel, Star Paving, TCSI, Qualcom)

TCSI is working off the south side of DP Road installing Fiber Pull Boxes. No prolonged disruption to two-way traffic is anticipated for this work.

Star Paving is continuing the onsite grading of the Canyon Walk Apartments site off the north side of DP Road. No traffic disruption on DP Road is related to this work.

Qualcom is still working on a resolution to the storm drain conflicts. Once resolved, work will continue on that trenching and installation next week.

Grand Canyon Road Work (Cablecom)

Motorists near Grand Canyon Drive and Rover Boulevard will encounter road closures next week while Cablecom crews work on curb cuts. The south side of Grand Canyon will be closed. There will be a sidewalk detour on the north side of Grand Canyon. Flagging operations will be in place on the south side. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
