Weekly Road Construction Update:

Note: the below information is based on a schedule provided by the contractors and may change due to weather or other delays.If you are interested in attending any of the Public Works weekly project meetings, please contact the Public Works Department at 662-8150 for meeting information. Children are attracted by activity and heavy equipment. For safety reasons, we ask your help in keeping children away from the construction area since they cannot always be seen by workers concentrating on their jobs.

Public Works Projects:

Canyon Rim Trail

Construction on the west leg of Canyon Rim Trail continues. The trail is closed to pedestrians.

Clearing and grubbing south of DP Road continues. Concrete blocks will continue to be unloaded at Fire Station #6 and moved to the project site. No traffic delays on NM 502 or DP Road are anticipated.

Knecht Street Improvements Project

Work has begun on Knecht Street south of Trinity Drive. Knecht Street is open in both directions at Trinity Drive. At the west Smith’s entrance follow the short detour to access Knecht Automotive and KJM Auto Body. Work will be on-going 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Western Area Phase 4

Construction continues on 40th Street south to the UNM-LA parking lot. 40th Street is closed to through traffic and on-street parking is restricted. The UNM-LA parking lot at the end of 40th

Street is closed. Use University Drive to access the parking lot on the southwest corner of the UNM-LA campus. Sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours will be in place during the time of

construction.

Monday, June 20, construction will begin on 39th Street and Ridgeway Drive. The Contractor will begin preparing the road for utility work. Utility trenching and roadway removal will follow. Residents are to remove all vehicles on the roadway or find alternate parking during work hours. Access to residences as well as services such as mail delivery, emergency services, trash and recycling collection will be maintained.

33rd Street and Villa Street

Work continues at the intersection of 33rd & Villa Street. The work consists of concrete curb and

gutter work and sidewalks. Motorists should expect truck/equipment traffic and a flagging

operation at the intersection. The project should be completed the second week of July.
