Road Construction Update for the week of June 13.
Note: the below information is based on a schedule provided by the contractors and may change due to weather or other delays.
Public Works Projects:
Canyon Rim Trail
The west leg of the Canyon Rim Trail is closed for construction. No traffic delays on DP Road or New Mexico 502 are anticipated.
Knecht Street Improvements Project
Century Club will start construction on the Knecht Street Improvements Project Monday, June 13. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Access to businesses as well as mail delivery, emergency services, trash and recycling collection will be maintained. On street parking will be restricted for the duration of the construction project.
Western Area Phase 4
Monday, June 13, the Western Area Phase 4 Project is scheduled to begin with preconstruction utility line locating and video recording of landscaping and walls near County right-of-way to ensure such features are returned to pre-construction condition.
Wednesday, June 15, crews from TLC Plumbing & Utility, Inc. will begin reconstruction of 40th Street, south of Sandia Drive to UNM-LA, requiring 40th Street to be closed to through traffic and on-street parking restricted. Access to residences as well as services such as mail delivery, emergency services, trash and recycling collection will be maintained. The UNM-LA parking lot at the end of 40th Street will be closed, however, access to the parking lot on the southwest corner of the UNM-LA campus will remain open via University Drive. Sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours will also be posted.
Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians should seek alternate routes and are urged to use caution around construction zones. Residents are asked to seek alternative parking locations if possible.
Crews are scheduled to work 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
33rd Street & Villa Street
Work will begin Monday, June 13, at the intersection of 33rd & Villa Street. The work will consist of concrete curb and gutter work and sidewalks. Expect truck / equipment traffic and a flagging operation at the intersection. The project should be completed the second week of July.

Longview Drive – New Waterline Installation
The Department of Public Utilities’ contractor will continue the installation of a new waterline on Longview Drive, between Village Place and the east side of Rover Boulevard in White Rock. The goal is to improve the fire suppression capability of the system for the area. The west-bound lane on Longview continues to be closed. A partial closure on Rover Boulevard at the Longview intersection may occur by mid-week as crews extend the new line across Rover. A flagging operation will alternate between north and south bound traffic. Some traffic delays are expected through Wednesday, June 15.
