Public Works Projects:

For more information about the projects listed below, please e-mail, call 662-8150, or visit the “Projects” link at Please slow down and use caution as you travel through these construction areas.

Reminder: There have been a number of lightning strikes causing traffic signal outages in our region. If you approach a traffic signal with none of the signal lights working, you are required to STOP as if it was a 4-way or all-way STOP controlled intersection. Be extremely cautious when approaching and maneuvering through an intersection with a dark traffic signal.

Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving & Utility Project – Phase 2:

Please Note: Canyon Road between 15th and 9th Street is Closed to Through Traffic. Due to the significant amount of work and equipment in the roadway, non-resident motorists are asked to avoid the construction area and seek alternate routes.

Canyon should be paved before Monday. Contractor will then be adjusting manhole and valve collars to match the grade of the new pavement. Expect minor flagging operations when this work is occurring. Once new concrete is placed, the manhole and valve areas will remain coned off until the fresh concrete has cured. Rim Road at Canyon will continue to be closed for placement of concrete at this intersection. Rim should reopen on Sept. 3. All other Canyon Road intersections should be open by end of day Monday, Aug. 26.

15th Street remains closed between Canyon and Sage north. 15th is also closed between Oakwood north and Oakwood south. Trenching for utility work continues on 15th Street progressing south of the Oakwood Loop; expect continued lane closures with flagging operations and detours as work progresses through side street intersections.

On Verde Ridge and Arroyo Lane, concrete placement was delayed due to the unavailability of concrete from the supplier. Forming and placement of concrete is now scheduled to be completed Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 26-27. The contractor will also be working on roadbed preparation.

Western Area Phase 1:

43rd Street north of Trinity remains closed to through traffic. Roadbed and curb and gutter preparations continue.

44th Street north of Trinity remains closed to through traffic. On 44th Street, expect continuation of utility work as well as the removal of the cul-de-sac center island.

Access to residences as well as services such as mail delivery, emergency services, and trash and recycling collection will be maintained. Residents are asked to maximize use of off-street parking. Any necessary on-street parking should be away from the active work zones. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with possible weekend work if necessary.

Concrete Work on White Rock Streets:

The manhole and valve collars in the roadway of the recently repaved streets must be adjusted to the new pavement grade. This work will begin on Bryce Avenue, Louise Avenue, and Joya Loop, and will consist of excavation around the manholes and valve covers followed by placement of new concrete collars. Expect the work area to be coned off. Please use caution when maneuvering around the work area. Work on these streets, including the required concrete cure time, will take approximately seven days.

Cañada del Buey Multi-Use Trail Improvements:

The contractor continues to work on the Longview corridor from Bonnie View to Rover. Paving of the pathway was delayed and has been rescheduled for this week. Expect a lane drop on Longview with flagging operations. Use of alternate routes is recommended whenever possible. The contractor will also be finishing up the ADA sidewalk and ramp on the east side of the Longview and Rover intersection.

Canyon Glen Bridge Safety Attenuators:

Expect concrete work in the vicinity of the recently installed attenuators. Vehicular traffic is not impacted; however, pedestrians are asked to use the provided pedestrian pathway until the new sidewalk is opened.
