COUNTY News:

The Public Works/Traffic Division provides the latest updates on the following projects:

Public Works Department:

Diamond Drive near the Golf Course 

The contractor conducting soils boring operations alongside Diamond drive at the Golf Course has been delayed. No traffic impediments expected.

Lane Closure on Sherwood Boulevard

Motorists can expect a lane closure and flagging operations on Sherwood Blvd because of work on the Pinon Park Splash Pad project. The contractor will be working on a water line tie-in, weather and scheduling dependent.

Pedestrian and ADA Accessibility Along Trinity Drive from Oppenheimer to 39th Street

GM Emulsions continues construction along Trinity Drive from Oppenheimer to 39th Street, to provide better accessibility by replacing curb and gutter as well as installing ADA compliant sidewalks. To perform this work safely, traffic along Trinity will be shifted around the work zone. Traffic control will include temporary shoulder closures and bicycle and pedestrian detours.

Traffic & Streets Division:

Central Ave – Morning Pavement Marking on Wednesday

County crews will be working from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday to install new pavement marking between 15th St. and Oppenheimer as a follow up to last week’s pavement patching project on Central.

Estates Drive – Curb & Gutter, Drive Pads,  Asphalt Work

County crews will be working near 957 and 961 Estates Drives Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Quemazon at Esperanza – Asphalt Repair

Work continues this week; crews will be replacing a section of asphalt on Esperanza starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. daily. A flagging operation will be in place.

Other projects:

NM502 Roundabout Construction & Road work (State DOT, Star Paving)

No change from last week. NM 502 is now partially re-opened to through traffic. There is one lane open in each direction from Tewa Lp to DP Rd. Access to local streets from Tewa Lp to Arroyo Ln will still be provided.

Access to Central Ave and 4th St from NM 502 will be closed for the next 6 weeks for construction of the roundabout. Central Ave and 4th St can still be accessed via Knecht Street.

DP Rd (Work related to Canyon Walk Apts and The Bluffs)

Qualcon Builders, LLC – 120 DP Road Utility Infrastructure Replacement

Work has been delayed. No work is expected the week of August 17. Once the Contractor has a final work schedule, the traffic control plan remains the same as previously announced:

Portions of DP Road will be temporarily detoured or restricted to flagged/signaled to one-lane traffic for approximately an 8-week duration. One-lane traffic restrictions will occur only during business hours from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. The portions of DP Rd affected are between the edge of the 6th Street intersection with DP Road east to Fire Station #2 (132 DP Rd). Contractor will be working in the right-of-way to replace existing utilities with upgraded services related to the new Canyon Walk Apartments (under construction) and The Bluffs senior housing (soon to be constructed). Milling and paving operations followed by a detour shift to the north side of DP Rd can be expected with either electronic flagging or one-way access with flagger in place during the two month project. Parcel A-8-b Trench Work – south of Canyon Walk Apts

Work is expected to wrap up by the end of the month as N3B contractors finish excavating a utility trench within the A-8-b land parcel that will be used to place utilities along DP Rd to support the two housing projects. No traffic impacts directly affecting DP Rd but motorists should watch for trucks and other construction traffic entering and exiting the parcel on the south side of DP Rd throughout the work day Monday through Friday.

Vehicles and pedestrian traffic are urged to follow all traffic control devices and maintain a safe distance from the work zones listed above.
