DP Road Phase II Reconstruction Project Update
TLC Plumbing & Utility work 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday,
Parking:
Parking is not allowed south of DP Road outside designated areas south of Ace Hardware and south of the Los Alamos Fire Training Academy.
Traffic Control:
Follow all work zone signs and exercise caution; flaggers may direct traffic during certain construction events.
Access to businesses will be maintained.
New traffic control East of CrossFit Los Alamos to TA-21 will be implemented to allow crews space for underground utility crossing of DP Road.
There will be a road closure with detour of DP Road east of CrossFit Los Alamos to Site TA-21 during working hours.
A detour will be in place through the County property south of DP Road to access site TA-21.
Businesses with yards north of DP Road will have access either through the work zone or from the detour.

Urban Trail Phase I and II Project
Crews will work 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with possible weekend work if needed.
Construction of the Trail continues along the north side of Canyon Road between the Tennis Courts and Aquatic Center.
A partial closure of the Nature Center Driveway will be in place, but access will be maintained, and the Nature Center remains open.
The north shoulder on Canyon remains closed, with two lanes of traffic generally maintained.
Flaggers will be used when lane closures are needed for construction vehicles access to the work areas.
Work to construct the boardwalk section of the trail will also continue in the wooded area by the Tennis Courts.

Utilities Projects:

Replace hardware on 50 water valves in the Quemazon subdivision
Beginning Aug. 10, DPU’s water crews are proactively replacing the hardware on 50 water valves in Quemazon before this winter to mitigate water line breaks in the area. DPU crews will work on weekends until all 50 are repaired. Traffic and Streets staff will follow behind to repair the concrete and asphalt disrupted by the water valve repairs. Overlook Park Irrigation Work Continues
The trail section at Overlook Park between Spirio Soccer Field and Softball Field 3 is closed to all traffic, including pedestrians. This closure is necessary for work on interconnecting the irrigation system with the potable water system as a backup to the reclaimed water that is typically used to water the fields. This work is expected to last into October.

Sidewalk work on Diamond next to the First Baptist Church parking lot
Beginning Aug. 14, weather permitting, crews will be replacing a buckled section of sidewalk in front of the First Baptist Church parking lot on Diamond Drive. The sidewalk will be closed but pedestrians will have access through the parking lot. This will not impact vehicle traffic; crews will be working 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from within the parking lot.
Sidewalk repairs on Orange between 36th and 35th Streets
Beginning Aug. 14, weather permitting, crews will be repairing a section of sidewalk on Orange Street between 36th and 35th Streets near a trail head leading to Family Strengths Network. The sidewalk will be closed. Crews will do their best to assist pedestrians through the work zone as needed. There may be an intermittent flagging operation to accommodate concrete trucks. Work hours will be 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
Non-County Projects:
The following construction projects are not funded by Los Alamos County. Updates are included to keep residents informed of potential traffic impacts. Questions should be directed to the parties identified within each description. Please obey all traffic devices and slowdown in work zones.
Concrete Work on 35th Street off Trinity Drive Continues
In association with Pavilion Construction, as part of the scope of work for the Hills Apartment Complex and the realignment of 35th Street at Trinity Drive (N.M. 502), work continues to install sidewalks, curb and gutter, and other concrete work along 35th Street off Trinity Drive. A lane shift will remain in place until the work is completed. Work will continue through August, beginning at 7 a.m. and finishing by 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and weekends as needed.
