Road Construction Update: Week of May 28
Orange cones will be sprouting up next week around Canyon Road, Central Avenue and 15th Street in the downtown area.
Public Works Projects:
Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving & Utility Project – Phase 1
Starting Tuesday, Canyon Rd between East Road (NM502) and the Myrtle Green will be closed to through traffic. Residential access to this area will be maintained; however, residents who park on Canyon Road are asked to park off-street or on nearby side streets. Residents can expect flagging operations on Canyon Rd during the daytime, and two-way traffic at night. Minor delays may be experienced. Pedestrians must use the provided pedestrian path. All through traffic must seek alternate routes.
RMCI will also begin work on 15th Street, requiring the closure of 15th Street between Trinity and Deacon, as well as reducing traffic between Deacon and Central to two lanes of traffic to allow for work on the west side of 15th Street. Pedestrians will be detoured around the construction area. Motorists are asked to use 20th Street/Deacon or Knecht/Central Avenue. Access to area businesses shall be maintained.
NM4 Improvements Project
Traffic continues to be on the south side of NM4 between Rover Blvd and Grand Canyon/Pajarito Road. Speed limit within the construction area is 30 mph. Expect modifications to the work zone as the contractor progresses from intersection to intersection. Please drive defensively and watch for construction vehicles.
Dept. of Public Utilities’ Projects:
East Road Gas Replacement & Reinforcement Project
Construction begins Wednesday on south shoulder of East Rd NM502 starting just east of Airport Rd continuing west to Arroyo Lane. Construction will continue to the end of October.
Upper Pueblo Canyon Sewer Maintenance Road
The road will be closed west of the Sewer Plant entrance until the second week in July. Please use the lower Pueblo Canyon Road as the alternate route.
