Concordia Santa News:
Concordia Santa Fe’s Wind Orchestra will present its final concert of 2023, “From Darkness to Light” Sunday, Nov. 5 at the New Mexico Museum of Art in the St. Francis Auditorium.
Led by guest conductor Dr. Michael Mapp of New Mexico State University, the 40-member ensemble will perform works by David Biedenbender, Carlos Chavez, Katahj Copley, Tom Davoren, Julie Giroux, José Pablo Moncayo, and Jonathan Newman.
The Wind Orchestra was founded in 2007 to provide high-caliber wind-centric musical exposure to audiences in northern New Mexico.
The music format focuses on the performance of contemporary – and traditional – works of wind orchestra literature. Programs are quite varied and can include period American and non-American pieces involving strings, voice and a variety of keyboards.
As one of only a handful of professional-level wind orchestras in the country, the Wind Orchestra offers local and regional audiences the opportunity to experience music very few people can access.
Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted at the door.
