Concealed Carry Class Offered May 9-10

The Los Alamos Sportsman’s Club (LASC) will be hosting a class that qualifies for the New Mexico Concealed Carry license requirements.

This class is being presented by a volunteer instructor that is donating all proceedes to the Youth Program of the club. The class will start on Friday May 9, 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the LASC Indoor range, and resume the next day, Saturday May 10, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the same location.

This class is open to anyone that will be 21 years of age by July 9, 2014. Students do not need to be a LASC club member.

The class will consist of four hours of lecture and discussion Friday, with an additional hour of pre-range lecture Saturday. The remainder of Saturday will be spent on hands on instruction in firearms safety, range and practical
marksmanship, defensive shooting and conflict deescalation. The class will conclude with the administration of the mandated practical shooting test for issuance of a certificate that will allow the students to apply for a New
Mexico Concealed Pistol Permit.

The cost of the class is $155 for initial permit training, $80 for a renewal certificate, and $40 for the state mandated refresher course.
