Community Services Director Charlie Kalogeros-Chattan presented her budgets to Council this evening.
The Community Services Department encompasses Social Services, Cultural Services, Libraries, Parks, Recreation and Open Space, Health Care Assistance, Recreation Programs, Cemetery, Golf Course, Ice Rink and Aquatic Center.
Community Services 2014 Adopted Budget is $11,747,413 and the FY2015 proposed budget is $1 1,928,998 and a $12,264,731 projected FY2016 budget.
Kalogeros-Chattan detailed some of the significant changes and impacts in her department including merging Parks and Recreation to a single division: Parks, Recreation and Open Space, establishing a start-up in earnest of a new Social Services Division and a move toward “one stop” services, efficiencies initiated due to attrition to minimize impact to the public and the Art in Public Places Board’s greater interface with the public.
