LASOA News:
The Los Alamos Stable Owners Association (LASOA) invites the community to its 2024 “Stroll the Stables” event, 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Aug. 4 at the North Mesa Stables.
Atendees are required to park in the lot across from the Sheriff’s Posse Lodge at 650 North Mesa Road.
Lot Activities:
- Lot 10 – Principles of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Facilitated Learning. (This lot is on the short road alternate entrance to the stables.)
- Lot 13 – Welcome Table. Tour the historic homestead Lujan Cabin
- Lot 15/16 – Meet Wyatt the Horse and other members of our herd for photos. Learn about summer camp activities.
- Lot 29/30 – Learn and have fun with someone raised on a Real Ranch (and his horses!)
- Lot 31 – Wool combing, carding, and spinning with wool. Meet two Icelandic sheep. See examples of knitted and woven projects
- Lot 40 – Goat Petting
- Lot 45 – Learn goat hoof trimming and/or pet a sweet mini cart horse being driven through the Stroll
- Lot 47/48 – (10-noon) – Sit on a horse for a photo op. Pet and groom horses. Learn about horse rescues.
- Lot 49/50 – Help churn Goat milk ice cream. Yum!
- Lot 67/68 – Los Alamos Pony Club
- Lot 77 – (9-10:00) – Horse grooming, photo ops, horse safety…how to avoid kicks, bites, etc
- Lot 78/79 – Painting our white ponies with tempra paint.
- Lot 113/114 – “Summerween” (Halloween in summer). Face painting, bobbing for apples and feeding horses. Goat Petting.
- Lot 116 – Pet and feed two wonderful Rescue Donkeys. Learn about donkeys and donkey rescues.
- Lot 129 – Learn about Arabian Horses, the sport of Endurance Riding which Arabians excel at, and tack for Endurance Riding
